Moorfields complex strabismus day

The Moorfields complex strabismus day is dedicated to developing best practice for consultants, senior fellows and senior orthoptists through the presentation and discussion of strabismus cases with key learning points emphasised.

Hosted in hybrid format, the day will be chaired by Dr Naz Raoof and Ms Gill Adams, who have both acted as Strabismus Service Directors at Moorfields and have years of experience in the area. Our course faculty includes Strabismus Surgeons from Moorfields Eye Hospital, as well as across the UK and internationally.

The course aims to enhance knowledge of complex strabismus, through illustrative key cases with learning points and the supporting scientific literature emphasised. Discussion of cases will be encouraged, with the aim of sharing of knowledge across the faculty and attendees.

Gill Adams

Gill Adams is an Honorary Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon at Moorfields Eye Hospital. Gill studied in Edinburgh, where she did her initial ophthalmic training before coming to Moorfields where she specialised in strabismus both adult and paediatric and paediatric ophthalmology and ROP. Gill has worked extensively for the Royal College of Ophthalmologists: she has sat on the Council and the training committee and chaired the recent ROP guidelines groups on screening and treatment. Gill is vice president of the International Strabismological Association (ISA) and has lectured on their behalf at many meetings worldwide . She is a member of the volunteer faculty of the charity ORBIS, and has worked with them in many countries focusing on training in strabismus and ROP. Gill has been a volunteer for a charity which supports patients thyroid eye disease.

Andrea Molinari

Andrea Molinari was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Andrea is President of the International Strabismological Association (ISA). Previously, President of the Latin American Society of Pediatric Ophthalmology (SOPLA) and, President of the Ecuadorean Society of Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus. Currently, International Director at Large Board of Directors of the American Association of Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus (AAPOS) and, Director of the Fellowship Program in Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus in Fundacion Metrofraternidad, Hospital Metropolitano, Quito / Ecuador.

 
 

Donny W Suh

Donny W. Suh, M.D., FAAP, MBA, FACS, is a Professor and Chief of Pediatric Ophthalmology and the Eye Mobile Program at the University of California, Irvine. He works at UCI Gavin Herbert Eye Institute and the Children’s Hospital of Orange County (CHOC). He completed his pediatric ophthalmology fellowship at the Wilmer Eye Institute, Johns Hopkins, and his ophthalmology residency at the Eye Institute, medical College of Wisconsin. Dr. Suh earned his M.D from Baylor College of Medicine and his B.A in biochemistry from Rice University. Since 2000, Dr. Suh has volunteered with ORBIS Global Health Programs, providing medical care and training ophthalmologists in underserved regions across South America, Europe, Asia, and Africa. He is the Chair of the American Academy of Pediatrics Ophthalmology Section Membership Committee and has been named “Best Doctor in America” and “Top Ophthalmologist” since 2003. Dr. Suh is an inductee of the American Ophthalmological Society and was awarded “Inventor of the Year” in 2019 by the University of Nebraska Medical Center. During his free time, he enjoys golf, traveling, and spending time with family.

Saurabh Jain

Saurabh Jain is a Professor of Ophthalmology at UCL Medical School and a Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon at the Royal Free London NHS Trust, and honorary consultant at UCLH hospitals in London, UK. His areas of clinical expertise include adult strabismus surgery and botox, paediatric ophthalmology, and cataract surgery. His medical journey in ophthalmology began at King's College London, followed by specialist registrar training at the Leicester Royal Infirmary, where he undertook a felloship in adult strabismus surgery. He later pursued further specialization in paediatric ophthalmology at the Manchester Royal Eye Hospital. He serves as the International senior examiner for the Royal College of Ophthalmologists and has additional examining roles with the International Council of Ophthalmology and the European Board of Ophthalmology. He is also an active member of the council of the European Strabismus Association (ESA) and a member of the research and adult strabismus committees of the American Association for Paediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus (AAPOS). His research is primarily centred on strabismus and ocular motility, leading to numerous publications, including research papers, book chapters, and three textbooks. He frequently speaks at international conferences and has been invited to deliver lectures worldwide. Balancing his academic and clinical duties, he manages a busy practice across the Royal Free, Whittington, and UCLH hospitals, integrating patient care with teaching, research, and ongoing education.
